  • Fosters positive self esteem in a safe environment

Our Philosophy

Grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework V.02 – “Belonging, Being & Becoming”, our program is responsive to children’s interests, strengths, ideas and cultural identities. We embrace diversity and difference as vital to a rich, inclusive learning environment.

Our pedagogy and practice are shaped by a strong commitment to:

  • Social justice: advocating for equity, diversity and the rights of every child and family.
  • Sustainability: embedding environmental and social responsibility into daily learning, practice and community connection.
  • Encouraging critical thinking, ethical practice and a strong sense of agency in children as citizens of today.

Children

Viewed as active participants and decision-makers in their learning.

Supported to explore, question and create through open-ended, play-based experiences that emerge from their interests and lived realities.

Encouraged to develop identity, confidence, wellbeing and belonging in a culturally safe and inclusive environment.

Aboriginal perspectives, language and connection to Country are embedded in the program in partnership with Yuin Elders and educators.

Families

Respected as children’s first teachers and essential partners in learning.

Invited to contribute to curriculum, planning, and centre life, including the Preschool Committee of Management.

Communication is open, reciprocal and flexible through tools such as StoryPark, family chats, emails, and shared documentation.

Family diversity is celebrated, and staff support families with empathy and understanding.

Staff

Committed to ethical, reflective practice, grounded in cultural responsiveness and continuous learning.

Work collaboratively to create a dynamic, inclusive environment where every staff voice is heard and valued.

Participate in ongoing professional development and training aligned with the National Quality Standards, EYLF V.02, and Child Safe Standards.

Value diverse perspectives, Aboriginal ways of knowing, and co-construct knowledge with children and families.

Community

Strongly connected with local organisations, schools, and the wider community to support continuity, engagement and support.

Honour the custodianship of the Yuin Peoples, embedding local language and cultural knowledge into the everyday program.

Continuously reflect on and improve our practice in response to community needs, current research, and evolving regulations.

Child Safety Commitment

Rocky Hall Pre-school is a committed Child Safe Organisation. The 10 Child Safe Standards are embedded in all aspects of our work to protect the rights and wellbeing of every child. We:

Empower children to participate in decisions that affect them.

Maintain safe, culturally inclusive environments—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Ensure accountability through training, policy, and transparent communication.
